  Ayatollah Allameh Mohaddes Nouri (A short biography):

  Allameh Haj Mirza Hossein Mohaddes Nouri is well known among the learned men as 'Khatam-ol-Mohaddesin' (i.e. The Last of the Traditionists), and referred to, by Ayattolah Mirza Shirazi, The Great, as The Learned of the Time and one of the most preeminent and rare scholars of the century in his commentary on The Full Splendid Moon written by the Late Mohaddes Nouri. He was also famous among the elites as the Sage of Noor, Mirza of Nour, Traditionist of Nour, and Haji Nouri.

  The Late Allameh Mohaddes Nouri was born in Yalrood, a rural village in Balade District of Nūr County in 1838. The winter resort of the Nouri progeny was Sa’adat Abad village located in Chamestan district. His father was Allameh Mirza Mohammad Taghi Nouri Tabari, one of the greatest of jurisprudents and scholars in Mazandaran. He was also a trustworthy leader and in position of religious authority among a group of Shi’a. He was one of the outstanding pupils of the wise sage Ayattolah Molla Ali Nouri.

  The late Ayatollah Mohaddes Nouri was Sheikh Fazlolah Nouri’s uncle and father-in-law. Sheikh Fazlolah Nouri, the martyr, was one of the luminaries of Islam and Shi’a, and one of the founders of Islamic System based on jurisprudent guardianship.

  In the words of Allameh Sheikh Agha Bozorg Tehrani, Allameh Nouri was one of the most eminent, honorable, and precedent companions of the great Mirza Shirazi. The documents remaining from the Tobacco Movement indicate that Allameh Mohaddes Nouri who stood shoulder to shoulder with his master had a fundamental role in this movement.

  Mostadrak Aboosael is also one of the most important works of this honorable man which granted him the title of The Last Traditionist (Khatam-ol-Mohaddesin).

  Finally, after a blessed life thoroughly at the service of Islam, Quran and its progeny, he passed away on August 19th, 1902 in Najaf and was buried in close proximity to the holy tomb of Imam Ali (Peace be upon him and his purified progeny , the Commander of the faithful ). Mohaddes Mirza Hossein Nouri was a god-fearing learned man and a pious jurisprudent. (Imam Khomeini, Forty Hadith, V. 1, p. 2)
